Dr. Leslie D. Woodcock Jr. graduated from Nassau University Medical Center as Chief Resident of Ophthalmology in 2004. He completed his internship at United Health Services Wilson Memorial Hospital in Binghamton , NY. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from SUNY Upstate Medical University after attending the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. He graduated from Boston College with a BA in biology in 1994.
Research Programs include a retinal research program at the
laboratory of Dr. William H. Brunken. Here the doctor performed in situ
hybridization and PCR to reveal the role of the beta-laminin protein in
the differentiation of early progenitor cells to rod and cone
photoreceptors. He also microscopically separated hundreds of in tact
retinas from the eyes of embryonic mice in a parallel study.
Clinical Experience includes a humanitarian and teaching mission to
the Philippines with Felipe I .Tolentino MD, a retinal specialist from
Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. Here the doctors worked in
hospital clinics, trained residents and worked out of a converted
tractor trailer operating room. Dr. Woodcock has also developed and
implemented a business plan for the integration of PRK and LASIK into
the practice of Laserview Center of CNY.
